Process Journal #18

Process Journal #17

Crazy originally by Andrew Garcia

When you look me in the eyes originally by Jonas Brothers

I have finally completed two songs and it's a great start to this project as I have received many positive feedbacks from my family and friends! two songs down, eight more to go!

Process Journal #16

Just last week, i purchased a USB microphone called the Yeti on Amazon to help me with this project but the shipment got delayed and this will mean that my submission will be late too. Thus i borrowed my friend's microphone and interface for recording. It was much more complicated than i thought, I couldn't work the interface for the microphone on the first day of recording so we could only record the guitar tracks. Figuring the Garageband out really isn't that easy after all, but i guess it's a good experience :-)

My friends and came over to my place for practice, it was really tiring because we had a hard time picking a good song that suit our vocal range. We eventually decided to do a really old and familiar song - When you believe! we took a video so do watch it and leave comments : ) will this be a good song to be in my acoustic album?

Stage 3: Completion

the action or process of finishing something

Process Journal #13

The most confusing part about Garageband is probably the loops! Thankfully, i found a video which solved my problem :-)

Process Journal #12

I found a very informative video which helped me a lot in using the garage band

Also, i found an article on Wikipedia which talks all about the GarageBand. You can view it here.

There is even a book which they called "the missing manual", this book is interesting because the author lays out all of the information of GarageBand and with this book, you can start using the GarageBand right away. I read the background of the book here.

Process Journal #11

One important question i have to research on is - How to use the Garageband?

After much research, I found out that there are five steps to recording a track in Garageband.

1) I have to purchase a interface for recording the acoustic guitar/piano and my vocals.

also, I would need a

- condenser microphone
- guitar/piano wires (to connect to the interface)

2) Open Garageband, choose, "Start a New Project" or "Open Existing Project." For the keyboard, I will have to choose "Software Instrument" and for the microphone and guitar, i'll have to choose "Real Instrument"

3) In the bottom right-hand corner of the Garageband window, there is a input source and a recording level volume slider. Set the levels for the instrument i'm recording, it should be at the halfway point.

4) Use loops - Loops are the easiest way to create a professional-sounding song without much work. I have to drag a loop from the menu onto the main part to create a new track. I can then add more oops of the same instrument to this track. To make a new track, repeat. 1 track = 1 instrument.

5) Hit the record button and dive in. If it's not perfect, I can hit delete and try again.

Stage 2: Research

Research is important because it helps us do our work easily even without the companionship of others. Without research, we would not figure how anything works or how anything is made. It is through research, the details I am looking for is more accurate and it enriches my mind. It is one way we gain critical and helpful knowledge.

Process Journal #9

"Aim for the sky and you'll reach the ceiling.
Aim for the ceiling and you'll stay on the floor."

My aim in the next three months is to learn the advance functions for the garage band.

In six months, I will start recording and processing for the ten songs.

And finally in ten months time, I will have the acoustic album processed.

I have decided that for my ten covers, instead of covering just as a band:

I will also be getting help from my very good friend whom is an amazing guitarist:
